Hugh Durham

Hugh Durham has been involved in the photographic industry since starting his first job in a Dublin photographic laboratory on leaving school in the '70s. He developed his expertise at hand printing in London and later in a professional laboratory in Dublin. He exited the darkroom in 1985 to establish his professional photography business in Celbridge.

Working as a general photography professional has given him a wide range of experience in social photography i.e. weddings, family portraiture, pet photography, school photography, christenings, communions, confirmations, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries and more. He carries out a variety of commercial and industrial assignments from product photography and brochure production to executive portraiture and on-site photography.

His personal attributes of reliability, discretion and efficiency have earned him many tributes from satisfied customers particularly in assignments where diplomacy and protocol is observed at the highest level. He has won many awards for his photography, however he chooses not to enter client's work into competitions. He has been recognized for his creativity and expertise in such areas as landscapes and digital imaging.

In 2006 Hugh opened his new office and studio located in The Grove, Celbridge, Co. Kildare.

    Hugh was awarded 1st prize Professional Category in the European digital Awards sponsored by Epson. It was shot on the pier in Howth, Co. Dublin. It portrays an Irish working environment.
  • Irish Times National Photography Competition
    Hugh won 1st prize in this section entitled Movement. Shot on location in Corfu, Greece.
  • Guinness National Photography Competition
    1st Prizewinner. The challenge was to portray the Big Pint in an original and amusing way. Shot on location in McEvoy's Public House, Hazlehatch, Co. Dublin.
